When you upload a photograph on this site, you have the option of adding a description and keywords.

Ever wondered what they are for?

Well Description, you might think 'that's easy' its what the photo is about...
Yes Correct look at this example :

I took this at York Minster, to show the main door - Described it ok, its a photo of doors at the minster.

However:

York Minster main doors taken on the 10th July during a sunny spell. - Describes it better.

Why describe better? Search engines love to look for descriptions.

you can always add underneath the description, why you took it, funny comment etc

Key words should be made up of the description for example.

minster,york,main,doors,sunny,july,10th (lower case is not necessary but I always use them)

The comma's are what the search engines also look for, if a bot finds a keyword it will then look for the description and vice-versa.

All websites are 'Crawled' periodically to look for new content, what you are all adding is new content and it deserves to be looked at, if you add keywords and a good Description the more likely it will be spotted.

Yes and No, if they are all relevant keywords yes if they are a mix up not really, bots are programmed to look for comment and keyword combination that match.
