Hi All
Well I went for it and purchased an A3 printer - thanks all for your help!
Now my next question is any recommendations on paper! Where do you start?!
I have heard that Hahnemuhle paper is good but it does seem expensive... :( but is it a case of you get what you pay for?
TIA
BB :)

been a while since I printed anything at home but for the special stuff I used to use the Hahnemuhle rag papers (yep - expensive!) and for the more everyday stuff I used the Ilford papers...
Check though as from memory Ilford (and some of the others) used to do a sample packs so you can experiment a bit until you find a combination that works.. and obviously if you change ink brands you may need to change paper to get best results..

I saw some stunning prints recently. They were done on the Ilford "sparkle" type paper. I'll get the info on it next week 'cos I am experimenting myself with prints.

Lots of people I know use permajet and fotospeed paper and ink including continuous ink systems

I think Stew (Badbadman) uses a CIS, if so, he'll tell you about it. :top:

I used to use a (Lyson) CIS but gave up on it in the end. The heads kept drying out as I wasn't printing frequently enough - so I ended up having to clean them a lot..
They're economical if you do a lot of regular printing though..

Which printer did you end up going for BB?
The inks the manufacturers make for their printers work best with their papers.
With HP Vivera inks on HP paper you can get upto 200 years longevity if kept in the right conditions.
I personally use Permajet for Archival Matte Paper, double sided, and for colour pearl and gloss I use Ilford Galerie paper.
The other paper I have heard good things about is Ilfords Gold Fibre, great for portraits I am told.
I don't have a CIS system as yet but have been looking at them for a future purchase.
Permajet, Fotospeed and Lyson are the big names but not sure they do ones for HP, definitely don't do them for Canon.
I will get round to find the company who have one for the HP B9180 if that is what you got. :top:

I went for the Canon pro 9500 mark II in the end, got a really good deal on it!
Thanks for the info everyone :)

Aok and I were looking at photo paper yesterday and Kodak make a metallic effect one that looks awesome.
Would be good for Car shots and industrial scenes. :top:
