my tripod is fixed!!!!
after emailing the uk distributors for some help or advice on how to take it apart and clean it and being told it was very complicated so could only be done by sending it to them  we did a bit more googling. this time i tried some different search terms and found alternative sites that said you just needed to hammer out the pin on the clip that locks the legs in place. its more than ive found in the last 3 months of searching.
anyway, we had a go at one leg (the worst one) yesterday and its so easy to do when you know how! weve finished it off today (well Cliff has) and i now have smooth sliding legs on my tripod again. :D :D
oh yeah, and thanks go to Ben on Thursday for showing me how to alter the angle the legs open at, so obvious yet i missed it completely for 9 months lol :o
