Can you tell me why my camara ( or me) is unable to pick up reds properly? :confuse:
All other colours are fine and it produces a grand yellow but a deep reddy/purple rose turns out a sort of faded pinky colour, for example, and the only way I could produce the redness of poppies was with colour hue and saturation. :(

Cant answer you scientifically Cindy.. but
Red is the weakest colour. It has the longest wavelength of all colours and very little strength, hence infra-red, which we cant see at all. (odd that red is used globally as the most important colour for a warning because of this)
I can only imagine that that is the reason why it is hard to capture exactly. Not sure if 'close up' is connected in anyway.
Sure someone will have a more photography side answer to it.

I know its a daft question, but do you keep the FD on all the time?
FD in the 6500 used to give an odd cast in reds deep purples and the chromatic aberration (purple fringe) was really bad if you had FD and used the macro at the same time on those colours.
I have had loads of fuji's and Ange has my old (baby misses daddy so much) 9600 they are all different in how they work but after conquering the settings each and every one give a fantastic vivid range of colours.
Have you got a sample Cindy?

Thanks for your explanations. I don't know how to add a link to the gallery but this below is a link to my rose picture. I had to use light effects to make the colour darker. I don't think I use the FD.

When you go close up on the image you can see the purple fringe on the edge of the leaves, I don't think your camera shoots in RAW so is hard to combat.
