Have just notice your announcement for pow, i thought that it was in the offing to have a rota list, or the likes for choosing this to get every member on the site involved in the fun of it, if they wanted to.

It was one of the ideas kim, and can still be put into place, we are really trying hard to sort out the monthly comp/assignments section which is taking a lot of time in orgainsing, but were on the way now.
The reason for the announcement, is that we need to have a pow announced on Friday as the current pow has nearly been up for a week. We haven't had time to organise a more complex method of picking a POW.

That sounds reasonable as a stop gap - much better than having nothing and everyone drumming their fingers and thumbs until it's sorted :top:

i can assure you kim, you will be taken up on that offer. maybe take a trip to the library and take some books out on PHP???

Seriously, the software for the forum and gallery is extremely good at being just that. It doesnt really cater for comps at all.
We are using work arounds to create an anonymous comp as it is. Programming to take it further is not only not easy, but pretty well un-documented.
Im kinda relieved that the forum and the gallery are up and seem to be running smoothly.
Having spent a lot of hours on the last 2/3 weeks getting this far, id like to devote some time to Stef.
The comps and pow are running. So will let it all tick along while i spend a bit more time loving than staring at php help forums.
I appreciate the offer for help, but I think its best to let things move on as they are for a bit. Then we will look at what we can do to twist the gallery software to help us make things a bit different, and add new features and ways of voting etc etc. When we have these new features, then we will need the help in setting them up.

I think that you are right, Ben.
Now is the time to have a minute, both of you, stand back and even admire what you have acheived over the last few weeks.

Things are running fine from this side of the fence, the problem is that we non computing types don't always realise that although many things CAN be done, they do take time and expertise in getting there.

We already have much more than the basics, and will willingly wait for you both to get your breath back before you begin to expand things further on our behalf, hopefully in a more leasurely fashion!

You have both done us proud - Stef seems to have given you 150% support and for that I applaud and thank her.

Well done and Thank You.:)

completely agree with Ron, Ben. youve done an excellent job getting the site up and running, and im sure its not been easy. the forum i ran was already done, i just messed around the the colours and backgrounds and that had me pulling my hair out at times. i would hate to imagine the work that goes in to building one from scratch (although im up for giving it a try at some time!). now is the time for you to step back and admire youre work, and remember what real life, away from a computer is!
