Hi All,
I take a lot of night shots but I hate the star effect that you get from street lights is there anything I can go while shooting to stop this?

take pictures in daytime, when street lights are off:top: that way you get no stary effect:p

Usless Bryan, but you did make me laugh! The 1st time I did a night shot the photos came out black as I shot on auto! Confused at why this happened I did take some of tree bark under a street lamp! So the night wasn't wasted! My dad thought it was funny though! He didn't tell me about the night setting and long exsposure! Plus I didn't tell him I was borrowing his camera as I wanted to impress him with my shots!

Use a larger aperture Bryan, f1.4 as big as you can. If the lens has a rounder aperture too, where the blades make a perfect circle.

thanks for for the story I'll have to post some of my first night shots I think I was a little lucky with my first attempt

only problem with F/1.4 is the shallow DOF

opps forgot that and for the landmark I want to photograph that could be a problem. are there any filters I can use I know you can get ones that make the stars bigger

have you tried Tactical Stone Throwing? TST has been known to remove the streetlight problem from shots:D
