As requested not long ago, i am finding more ways to integrate the site with facebook.

In the forum now, you should see the facebook logo, thumbs to like etc at the bottom of the posts.
By clicking the facebook logo (the actual word facebook) you should be able to share on FB, the thumbs of course will post to your wallthat you like the thread.

In the gallery, it is not so simple.
We have an old fashioned Share button.
This will share a thumbnail of the image to FB.
My biggest issue is fitting it on the 'Showphoto' page.
At the moment it should be tucked into the quick rate box. The fairly major downside to this is it will disappear when you rate a photo. So for the time being, if you want to share and rate a photo, do it in that order :D.

Im working on it :top:

What does it do??

Keeps friends in touch and you can share photo albums with each other.......Organize events with RSVP....

Very much Like here, but with non photographers and about 999million more users!

edit: if your talking about the share button, It just shares whatever you want to share with people outside of the TOG community, on the Facebook Community, puts a link to TOG

The main reason for us is just a bit of free promotion.

If every tog member has 50-100 friends of facebook and shares a link or photo from tog, then the chances are that some of those 2500-5000 people are keen on photography.
The friends of those friends can also probably see the pictures and links too, which could equate to 125,000 to 500,000 people seeing a link to tog.
Ok those numbers dont account for 'duplicate' friends, but you see it adds up pretty quick. :top:

hey guys... we should be really using facebook as a marketing tool to get the site busier... a couple of idea's...

1. POW's and Monthly compo pics need to be put on fb.
2. We should put the odd tutorial there.
3. Have a weekly question that people can answer.

Keep up the facebook links and thumbnails folks, it's having a good effect.

We're getting nearly 700 visits a month to TOG direct from facebook, virtually a 3rd of all visits.

Of those 700, over 25 are spending over 30 minutes on the site and are new visitors. Those are pretty good stats for a site of 50 people. :top:

If you go to the link Ben has posted on the TOG homepage, you need to LIKE our facebook page.

IT IS NOT A LINK TO HERE ON FACEBOOK ! I think people reading it are assuming it's a link back ;)

Here (http://www.facebook.com/TOG247) is the link to go to the page on facebook. We have worked quite hard to get this bang up to date with news & events happening on Tog as we know a few of us are on facebook & it's a great tool for advertising.
