View Full Version : trawling ebay
im after a couple of cheap, but good flashes. would like to be able to use them on camera, but no problem if i cant ill get one of them trigger thingies. i have about £50 to spend (cashback from Quidco) so can someone tell me what im looking for?
i want to be able to do decent portraits of Josh and wouldnt mind being able to light a background to do high key stuff. i already have a flash, its very basic, you cant (from what i can tell) alter the power output of it.

Can your D60 do "commander mode" (it'll be in the options for inbuilt flash). If so, it would be well worth getting a SB600, even a secondhand one. They are so versatile. If not, get one of those £5 triggers and look for an auto flash that has inbuilt sensing. Something like the older SB25 would be fine.
commander mode? not seen that option on the menus so no, i dont think it can.
im watching a few, its just soooooo boring trawling ebay lol.

I bought some good lighting bargainson there but there aren't so many about now.
Brollies at 99p, 180w/s flash at £19 (+14 p+p lol) 45w/s flash at £7.50 inc p+p. You have to look really hard nowadays.
Grab one or two of these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Seagull-Flash-Hot-Shoe-Sync-Adapter-Trigger-Sensor-T1C_W0QQitemZ370207816114QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pho tography_StudioEquipment_RL?hash=item56321af9b2&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50) for firing remote flashes. They will fire almost anything, even high voltage triggers.

Jeni I use 2 Hanimex flash units as slaves, they have 3 settings Manual auto 1 and 2 (sort of red and blue) the settings can be altered by selecting the ISO you are using on camera, the Fstop in use, I use them in conjunction with a Jessops own E-ttl and 2 of those little magic boxes.. I bought them for £3 ish
Heres one a little pricey but thats what I use (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HANIMEX-TZ1-CAMERA-ELECTRONIC-FLASH-TZ-1-INSTRUCTIONS_W0QQitemZ280350583940QQcmdZViewItemQQ ptZUK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUn its_JN?hash=item4146326c84&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50#ebayphotohosting).
