I am wondering if anyone can help me, I have calibrated my monitor with an eye one device, and also tried calibrize, but still havin problems.
At the moment, the real issue is skin tones looking really grey, it seems to have happened to my avatar and profile pic too..... which has made me wonder the hell is going on.... as the file opened on my pc looks great, but then when it was uploaded to the site it has gone grey in the same way that the photos do when I print them esp through the laser & chemicals process :headbanger:
i dont know much about colours and printing and stuff, but i had issues with pictures losing alot of colour when they were uploaded and it was down to the colour profile that i was using. i was given advice to convert to sRGB and that fixed my problem.

if you are using photoshop CS3, try edit>colour settings>working space set sRGB. Other packages will have the option somewhere similar no doubt

its a bit of a black art (to me at least) but there seems to be 2 ways to look at this
1. - go the "realistic" look setting camera and editing software to adobe RGB, calibrate monitor and printer in this colour space, however this appears to be hellish difficult to get right, and as most commercial printers use sRGB profiles for their printers, you still need to change before sending off for prints
or
2. - go the path of least resistance, set camera, lightroom, photoshop to sRGB, calibrate monitor in this colour space, and get good looking results with some loss of "realistic" colours
After some weeks of banging my head n option 1 I have now gone for option 2 :headbanger:

Like said above, a colour profile issue.
Trying not to confuse issues in your workflow either, calibrating your monitor wont make any difference.
Rule that out for now.
For the web, you need to use sRGB like colin and Jeni say.
If you are printing directly from lightroom, check what settings are in the colour management module.
If you have calibrated your printer, then use that profile., If not, then use a profile your printer has, or manage by printer, or adobe1998. Totally depends on what printer you are using.
All that calibrating the monitor will do, is make sure you are looking at the right colours. But that would change the way you view colours in any program., not specificly to one, or a web browser or lightroom
