As some of you may know I bought a D300s at Christmas and as part of the deal at the time Nikon were giving away SB900 speedlites with the cameras if you registered the body with them.

I duly received mine and having played with it, as awesome as it is it's something which is way out of my technical understanding and league at present, so I swapped it last week for a Sigma 10-20mm lens as I'm going to get a lot more use out of that for the time being than I am the SB900. I am a little concerned that with an 18-105mm lens the glass I have for the camera is not especially good enough and of course in time I may look for an SB600 to replace it with which should be more simple to use.

I have to say early impressions are really good - it's fair to say the 10mm open end is erm, wide :D I'll pop some pics up when I get a chance to shoot with it in anger :top:

sounds like a sensible swap Ernie. probably more inspiration to be had from a 10mm than a flash gun to get the creative urge back.

Just be careful, you dont half find yourself bumping into lots looking through the lens, thinking your further away from something than you actually are.

Mmmm - Never use it for sport - you'll get trampled on!

Sounds like a good deal to me.

If the flash isn't something you were comfortable with then getting a 10-200m for it is good sense.

Enjoy it and don't forget to make sure you have foreground interest. :top:

I've had it a week and had no chance to use it as yet :headbanger:
