lol Keith, in my dreams, although i would think it will be a D5x by the time finance allows.

Also if full frame was imminent i would save up for the VR2 version, as some issues with full frame on the vr1 version we're getting.

I will probably use it on the long side a lot, ie 200mm, so going full frame would mean saving for a 200-400mm, not thats likely to ever happen.

Im lookng forward to reviews of this new 2x converter mk3 though. If image quality is kept better than the current version then it may be next on the shopping list. Otherwise will be the 1.7 tc,

If you used this lens on full frame you would lose out on the 1.5 sensor crop factor - having got used to it on a D300 it would seem a bit short.

So, as you want it for its reach.....best hang on to the D300 (or maybe get a D500 to compliment the D5x!!!) for telephoto work and buy a 14-24 f2.8 in preparation for the FF camera.

I have a 2X converter but can't decide whether it's worth using or not, not much degredation in sharpness (and anyway you can sharpen a bit more in Photoshop) but it seems to induce CA, particularly in the corners.

So this one is a constant f2.8.. Wow, what a beast! Now I see why you are getting so excited about good TCs to go with it. ;)
