I bought this a while ago from Asda (£17) but hadnt used it up until now.

Its great for carrying around, small and very, very light. I strap it to the bottom of my camera backpack, and usually forget its there. its a lot easier than carrying a large tripod, especially when out walking for a few miles or more.

its very easy to use, just screw into the bottom of the camera. it even has a quick release plate, although i didnt bother with this and just kept the Gorillapod connected to the camera. I carried my camera using the neck strap with Gorillapod attached, no problems at all.

setting it up was simple, find your spot and adjust the legs to get the camera level. the one down point was when i needed to change camera settings. the Gorillapod was very wobbly and it was very easy to move it which made it very difficult to take multiple exposures with my camera, as it has no auto bracket function.

it worked fine with the 18-55mm kit lens, didnt like it when i added my Fuji wide angle converter onto the lens though. i think i would more than likely have the same problems if i tried to use it with my 55-200mm zoom lens too.

i used it as a normal tripod yesterday, to get low down and use a slower shutter speed. i have yet to try it wrapped around a tree branch, will give it a go at some point though!

They do have there uses Jeni.

I got mine primarily to hold my flashgun off camera using the built in as commander. :)

oh yeah, like i said, the only downside was the fact it didnt keep very still while i was changing settings. if i had auto bracketing on my camera it wouldnt have been a problem.

We have one Jeni but it's the SLR not the zoom one, it wont hold our cameras. We use it for flash guns tho, they are really good :)

yeah i think my camera and 18-55 kit lens is about its limit. would like to try the zoom one, and theres another even stronger one now, cant remember what its called though.

The SLR Zoom does up to 3kg, the Gorillapod Focus does 3-5kg but it's £85

Nah, it's just under 1kg with a 18-70 ish lens i reckon

The Joby (http://joby.com/uk/) site has a little calculator where you tell it your cam & it tells you which you need :top:
