We all know of Jessops and they have been reported as anything from "diabolical" to "outstanding". I must admit that I have called them some names in the past.
I have driven miles to get something from a store, to be told "we just sold it!"
Having visited more stores recently, and contacted their head office, I am of the impression that they are improving, depending on the store that you visit.
Credit where credit is due, I invite anyone to add comments below so we know what to expect if we visit a particular store or speak with a particular salesperson. Jessops just might read this one day and look into the ones that still need a KUTA. :confuse: Or give a bonus to the good ones

Their head office did confirm that the stock levels on the computer "may not be correct" and advised that a phone call to the store first is adviseable.

RUGBY. good service, helpful staff especially SARAH. :kisscheek:

TAMWORTH. good service again, helpful, polite and knowledgeable staff all round. ELAINE is their star. :top:

COVENTRY. WAS a good store but current staff are not helpful anymore. Chat to each other and ignore customers.

The one in Portsmouth doesn't hold anything worth buying.

In the good old days you could walk into a store and buy lens tissues, now you have to buy a whole kit...I don't want a whole kit just the damn tissues.

By the way Shaun they are for cleaning your lenses not wiping your wang. :D

Crewe - I can't say anything bad about our local branch. We bought all our kit from there, spent about £4000. We did a lot of research before going in & the advice given was spot on.

One thing you can do with Jessops - Search google for voucher codes & a couple of sites give an alphabetical list of stores. Search 'J' and you get various discounts off different things.
If you buy through Jessops online & apply the code, you can then collect in store at the discounted price & pay when you get there. Make sure you click the button in your basket that says 'collect at store'.

We've used it a few times :top:

LMAO Stewart... WANG

Manchester used to have 3 stores, the largest, aimed at the serious amateur and pro, has closed as has one of the smaller ones, the remaining one is not very good for much other than the happy snapper needs.

Took them 15 minutes to discover they didnt have a spare battery for my D80

Stockport, similar story, the larger store closed and the remaining small one carries little stock

Go to the Newbury branch and get served by a wonderful young lady called Sarah:wavey:, who is always helpful, and if she doesn't know the answer she will find out for you not just B.S you... something that happens quite frequently at Newbury's Currys Digital store unfortunately! :(:headbanger:

ive been in the Trafford Centre one, asked about a strap for carrying my tripod but they only sold cases. think they recommended one of the shops in town, but i made my own instead! i usually just stare at lenses in the window thinking 'i wish' lol.

According to the financial news, Jessops are in big trouble, their shares are trading at about 2p today, and considered worthless.

not surprising really, credit crunch, lots of stores closed, stiff competition from the web, it was on the cards. Its a shame though because there is nowhere now to get your hands on the gear before you buy. :(

be interesting to see which is right in the long run.

They went into Administration last year and have been looking for a buyer.

I suggest that if anyone does buy something from them and it has to be ordered to pay by credit card, you will have insurance on the payment from your insurance company then if they do go. :)

I do hope it works out Sarah, for the staff of course, but also for we customers.

Like many, I have a soft spot for Jessops, even though they get flack from time to time.

dont forget you still have london exchange, and all your parks, bristols, mifsuds etc, and then of course your local dealers like wessex where not only can you try before you buy, but get really good expert advice, service, and friendly atmosphere.

Problem is James, that folks try before they buy.......somewhere else.
